Macwheel Wrangler 600 is an electric bicycle from an emerging cheap brand on Amazon. Today, we will be looking for whether you can get a decent riding experience on a cheap electric mountain bike.
Technically speaking, this is an electric mountain bike, but in reality, it is more like a “city” electric mountain bike.
This means that it is not really designed for up and down mountain roads. Can it be done? probably. Will this be the best choice for this type of riding? Absolutely not.
This electric bicycle is a commuter bicycle for all purposes and uses, so I will use this as a basis for judgment.
Although the Shimano 7-speed transmission system at the bottom may not fall on rocks all day, it is sufficient for commuters.
The same is true for typical Tektro mechanical disc brakes. At the bottom end of the Tektro hierarchy, they didn’t come all the way, but they were famous brands and worked very well.
The Kenda tires are good, the accompanying LED lights are good, the suspension is also good for basic road riding, everything is fine. Not fancy, but it can get the job done without having to bargain, it is an unknown el-cheapo part. Everything is good, nothing more, this is exactly what we found on the Macwheel electric bike we tested last time. It’s always been good.
There are some advantages in the design, such as internal wiring and integrated batteries. Both are usually reserved for intermediate bikes, not for budget bikes.
Hell, Rad Power Bikes still don’t have an integrated battery. However, although the Macwheel Wrangler 600 has advantages here, it is one of the only advantages of objectively better electric bicycles.
In terms of components and construction, the takeaway message is this: the bicycle is decent and will not fall apart within a few months, but this is not a tribute to advanced design.
I hope this bike can travel at a speed of 32 km/h (20 mph) like a typical class 2 electric bike, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the speed continue to climb to nearly 36 km/h (22.5 mph). The difference is not great, but the driving speed per 20 mph helps make the electric bike psychologically more comfortable on the faster roads, so you reduce the time you spend passing traffic.
The power is definitely better than the 350W Macwheel electric bike I tried last time, which makes sense considering the 500W motor and 48V system on this bike.
Pedal assist is not the smoothest operation I have tried, but it works very well, and it keeps me honest when I choose to give up the throttle and do some exercise.
The 480Wh battery does not provide the full range promised to me when I only use the throttle, but at a distance of close to 34 kilometers (21 miles), it travels about two-thirds of it. With pedal assistance, the range can reach the 48 kilometers (30 miles) claimed by the company.
The geometry of the mountain bike puts you in a fairly sporty riding position, and the bike feels quite agile, especially for the 27.5-inch larger wheels. I would love to see a set of mudguards or rear racks included to provide more urban practicality, but these are accessories that can be added later.
Anyone who wants a leisurely cruiser should look at other models of Macwheels, because this model is designed for riders who like traditional mountain bike stances.
I may have brought some difficulties to the Macwheel Wrangler 600 here, but this is because I am used to comparing electric bikes that are only twice as expensive as the budget product.
When I reminded myself that the price of the Wrangler’s electric bike is equal to one song, the picture began to look more ruddy.
In the end, this is a fast and powerful electric bike with a traditional riding feel. This is perhaps its most important function.
When people ask me to provide an electric bike with the best budget level and want to stick to a 3-figure price, I usually recommend a Lectric XP similar to $899. The only problem is that some riders don’t want to use folding electric bicycles, fat tire bicycles, or small 20-inch wheels.
The Macwheel Wrangler 600 solves this problem by offering a more familiar mountain bike style ride to a similar price.
This is not the best mountain or commuter electric bike I have ever ridden-at least not absolutely. But thanks to its reasonable pricing and decent components, it ranks pretty well in terms of value scale. This is an upgrade to an even higher budget class like Ancheer, but it will not cause much damage to the wallet.
